Welcome to the IAM District W-3 web site. IAM District W –3 is located in Wausau, WI and services approximately 4,000 members in Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota and North Dakota. The full time staff at the district office includes the Directing Business Representative, the Assistant Directing Business Representative, two Business Representatives and a Secretary. Diversity is widespread within our union. District W-3 represents the paper industry, fire departments, police departments, health care, and many other industries. The primary responsibility of the District is contract negotiations, organizing, and servicing the membership needs. District Lodge W-3 is part of a larger labor movement toward economic and social justice with dignity on the job.
The International Woodworkers of America (IWA) was
founded in 1937. In 1994,
officers of the IWA recommended affiliation with the International
Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW) to it's membership.
The affiliation agreement was ratified by over 90% of the IWA
membership. With the
affiliation of the IWA and the IAM came the creation of 3 new IAM
District Lodges. District W1 consisted of the Western Division, District W2
consisted of the Southern Division and District W3 consisted of the
Midwest Division. The joining of IAM District W-3 and IAM District
200, which were located in Wausau, WI, followed the affiliation of
the two International Unions. IAM District 200 was charted
in 1977 and had jurisdiction over four counties within the state. IAM District W-3 Phone:
