NO PROGRESS IN G-P
NEGOTIATIONS
Federal Mediator Sherman
Bolden mediated negotiations
between G-P and the IAM for
Local Lodges W349, W401 and
W475 on November 2, 2006 in
Memphis. At the end of the
day, the proposal had not
changed except that the date
for acceptance on “Option A”
was extended to November 17.
MEMBERS TO VOTE NEXT WEEK
Your IAM negotiating
committees have gone as far
as they can without the
members’ full support. The
company has dug in its
heels, trying to force you
to give up your Nelson Trust
insurance and switch over to
a much worse G-P plan. At
this point, the members have
to decide whether to take
the company’s offer or stand
up and fight. The vote next
week will be to accept or
reject the company’s “OFFER
A”. That is the offer that
includes the Nelson Trust
insurance coverage. The
other offer that takes away
the Nelson Trust has been
rejected by the IAMAW
Committee and is not being
voted. The IAMAW negotiators
and committees strongly
recommend that G-P’s offer
be rejected by all the
members. Votes from all
three locals will be
combined and counted
together. If the offer is
rejected, a vote to
authorize a strike will be
taken the next week.
IT’S YOUR DECISION!!
PLEASE ATTEND THE MEETING
AND VOTE.
ENCOURAGE ALL OTHER MEMBERS
TO VOTE AND GIVE
G-P A STRONG UNION MESSAGE!!
“IF PROVOKED WE WILL STRIKE”
