CROSSETT MANAGEMENT
HOLDING UP CONTRACT
Negotiators representing
Georgia-Pacific and IAM
locals W349, W401 and W475
met three days last week in
Memphis. Good progress has
been made to resolve all
outstanding issues at
Phillips and Gloster.
Crossett management still
insists on making it hard on
people who get sick or take
a vacation. They want anyone
who has to be off work on
FMLA leave to lose an equal
amount of vacation. They
also want you togive up your
extra day off if a holiday
falls during your vacation
week. They demand that you
give up yourright to your
job if you take off on a
leave of absence because you
are sick or injured!
Possibly worst of all, they
want you to give up your
right to strike if GP
violates the law or won’t
bargain fairly! These type
issues are the kind we can
not give up.
ECONOMIC
BARGAINING ABSURD
GP says that if you keep
your Nelson Trust insurance,
you get $0.00 the first two
years of the contract, then
only 1.5% for two more
years. Their other “offer”
is to put you in the GP plan
and start charging you 25%
of the premium (much lower
benefits and a high cost).
You would get a 1% raise the
first two years and give it
all back to GP plus more
just to get fewer benefits
in their plan. The last two
years would be the
same,except you would have
to keep up your 25% of their
plan’s premiums. This is
sure to take at least your
raise.
IT IS TIME TO TELL G-P
“ENOUGH IS ENOUGH”
DEMAND A GOOD CONTRACT
OFFER!!!
Negotiations are scheduled
to resume September 25, 2006
in Memphis, Tn.
